**If you need more clarity for budgeting purposes, I’m happy to look at a sample of your project and provide an estimated quote of how much time it will take me, so that there are no surprises. I have found through experience that depending on the author, the writing style, the genre, and the reading level, word counts and page counts can translate to very different amounts of work.
$30/hour — I’ll be the final eyes on your nearly completed work. One last check on grammar, discrepancies, etc. This would be the last step in your editing process. It helps to have a fresh set of eyes other than the author, and maybe even the copyeditor, to catch any lingering errors.
$35/hour — This is the meticulous line by line service where I take my time and move slowly within your written work to catch all spelling and grammatical errors, as well as any other simple inconsistencies.
$40/hour — This incorporates looking at your novel the way a reader will see it. Does the novel flow? Does the story line make sense? Are there any plot holes? Are there character or dialogue discrepancies? There may be some minor things that slip by the author: sentences or thoughts they understand, but a reader—detached from the creation and process of the novel—doesn’t understand. I also look at word choice, paragraph structure, and readability.
$45/hour — My typical form of editing: I look for both grammatical errors and content/line errors, as well as use of language, etc. This is an all around comprehensive editing process. All you would need after this is a proofreader to double check any corrections you make as well as catch anything I missed—which is hopefully nothing!
$25/hour — Have an important announcement, newsletter, or article post? I’ll look over everything to make sure it’s error-free and comprehensible for your message.
Variable hourly rate — Still don’t see what you’re looking for? Don’t hesitate to ask! I’ve also edited the occasional academic paper, TV script, music industry press release, website content, and more!
